Nintendo recently confirmed that the 3DS sales surpassed 4 million units in the United States alone. Last month, Nintendo said the US sold 2.37 million, with sales in excess of 1.2 million for the handheld.
Although the system had a sluggish launch, it gained momentum with its price cut and a great holiday lineup. With Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7 both selling over 1 millions copies in the US.
As for the Wii, it topped 4.5 million systems sold in 2011, with lifetime US sales totaling 39 million. The year also saw Wii software reach new milestones, with The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword surpassing 1 million copies and Mario Kart Wii has sold over 11 million copies.
As for the DS, (excluding the 3DS) it sold 3.4, for its lifetime sales, it now totals over 51 million. With New Super Mario Bros. finally reaching 10 million copies sold.
